2,000 police officers to guard RI-Uruguay friendly

As many as 2,000 police officers will be deployed to guard a friendly soccer match between Indonesia and Uruguay in the Gelora Bung Karno stadion, Jakarta on Friday.

“We are now preparing the security. We will deploy 2,000 police officers to the stadion, 400 will be on standby mode inside the stadion, the rest will be assigned outside the stadion,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli said Tuesday.

Indonesia failed to hold an international friendly match between the country national team and Manchester United last year following the JW Marriot and Ritz Carlton bombs.

Boy said he was not really worried about the safety of the Uruguay national team as police would provide a security based on their standard operating procedure.
